Climate and Japan

Great thought. Well, I have an idea. I can tell you how to improve your statistics without spending $30 billion dollars. Use less packaging materials and start to isolate your houses!!
When I traveled trough Japan in wintertime I only had an accommodation twice, which was not wasting energy just by having open holes somewhere in the house. I don´t want to start about the electrical heating even in places where the hot water comes out of the earth to run down the street, without being used for anything useful.
One of my key experiences was the day when a japanese colleague of mine came back from Germany in january. He said, that he was freezing to death in his japanese house, although it´s warmer in Japan than in Germany. In Germany, he said, he had the heating turned off, but it was warm in his room. Even in Germany we are wasting energy in various places and it´s not the best way of living while trying to save the planet, but some standards have been set in the past and I´m glad about it.
I think the japanese people know about the problem with the isolation of their houses. I can´t imagine that you have to spent $30 billion to get some basic ideas what can be done better.
So please, whenever you have the possibility to isolate your house, use less packaging materials or to switch off your hightech closet: DO IT!
